Sarasota, Florida

Sarasota is a city on the central west coast of Florida, USA. Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands (or "keys") facing the Gulf of Mexico are within its city limits. The Sarasota area is mostly known for its pristine beaches and its arts institutions, including the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art and the Asolo Theatre. The city is part of the Sarasota-Bradenton-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is the county seat for Sarasota County.

According to the U. S. Census Bureau, Sarasota had a population of 52,488 in 2007, and a metro area population of 673,035. Its total area measures 25.93 sq mi (67.2 km2), of which 14.89 sq mi (38.6 km2) is on land.
